Conference

Participatory meeting designed for discussion, fact-finding, problem solving and consultation. An event used by any organization to meet and exchange views, convey a message, open a debate or give publicity to some area of opinion on a specific issue Conferences are generally on a smaller scale than congresses.

Convention

An event where the primary activity of the attendees is to attend educational sessions, participate in meetings/discussions, socialize, or attend other organized events.

Congress

The regular coming together of large groups of individuals, generally to discuss a particular subject. A congress will often last several days and have several simultaneous sessions.

Corporate Event

An event run and hosted by one company to communicate with a specific audience.  A corporate event may be a product launch, board meeting, sales incentive program, seminars, roadshows, award and gala event, annual staff gathering etc.

Event

An organized occasion such as a meeting, convention, exhibition, special event, gala dinner, etc. A gathering or activity leading to an 'experience'.

Exhibition

A forum for exhibition of products and services to an invited audience.

Ecosystem

A system where the relationships established across different industries become mutually beneficial, self-sustaining.

Incentive

A management tool to use experience to reward and motivate staff and usually associated with destination travel for a business event.

Live Event

A spectacular entertainment occasion such as a festival, sporting fixture, concert or cultural program.

LSE

Large Scale Event.

MICE

Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions, an acronym often used to describe the meetings and events industry.

Meeting

Two or more people come together to participate, in particular to have discussions, often in a formalized way.

A Professional Congress Organizer (PCO) provides specialist large scale turnkey event management services typically required for a global congress event. The full service offering may cover everything from production, promotions, operations, logistics, sales, programming, exhibitions and supporting event programs.

Seminar

Lecture and dialogue allowing participants to share experiences in a particular field under the guidance of an expert discussion leader.

Symposium

A meeting of a number of experts in a particular field, at which papers are presented and discussed by specialists on particular subjects with a view to making recommendations concerning the problems under discussion.

Training

Structured learning session in which instructor presents specific information and techniques.
